Tips & Information
Are you looking for a modern, seamless floor for your home or terrace on the Costa Blanca? If so, you’ve likely come across the terms Microcement vs. Epoxy Microcement. While both options are popular for their aesthetics and versatility, there are important differences that can influence your choice. At IZU CONCEPT, specialists in epoxy microcement floors, we’re happy to explain why epoxy microcement is a stronger and more durable choice.
What is Microcement?
Microcement is a decorative finish made of cement, resin, and pigments. It is applied in thin layers, resulting in a seamless, sleek appearance. It’s a popular choice due to:
- Aesthetics: It provides a minimalist and modern look.
- Versatility: Suitable for walls, floors, and even furniture.
- Color Options: Available in a wide range of colors.
While microcement is ideal for decorative purposes, it does have some limitations. For instance, it is more prone to cracking and wear under heavy use.
What is Epoxy Microcement?
Epoxy microcement combines the aesthetics of microcement with the strength and durability of epoxy. It consists of industrial epoxy resin, hard natural minerals such as lavastone and quartzite, and colorants. This results in a floor that is not only beautiful, but also highly durable.
- Strength and Durability: Epoxy is much stronger than traditional microcement, making it more resistant to wear, cracks, and heavy loads.
- Waterproof: Ideal for use in bathrooms, terraces, and even swimming pools.
- Stain Resistance: Unlike microcement, epoxy floors aren’t porous, making them resistant to staining and very easy to clean.
- Suitable for Indoor and Outdoor Use: Thanks to its water-resistant properties and UV-resistant finish, it’s perfect for Spanish homes on the Costa Blanca.
- Custom Colors: Like microcement, it is available in a wide range of colors to perfectly match your style.
Why Choose Epoxy Microcement?
While microcement is a beautiful decorative option, epoxy microcement offers clear advantages if you’re looking for a durable and practical solution. Especially in Spain’s warm climate, where terraces and swimming pools are heavily used, epoxy microcement provides the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality. It withstands the heat, humidity, and heavy use typical of the region.
At IZU CONCEPT, we understand that every space is unique. That’s why we offer custom epoxy microcement floors tailored to your needs. Whether you’re looking for a modern floor for your living room, a sleek finish for your terrace, or a durable solution for your pool, our epoxy microcement floors are designed to meet your expectations.

Yes! Our floors are UV- and waterproof, and therefore perfect for your pool area, terrace, and patio. Our floors are very easy to keep clean, will keep their color and don’t stain.

Not at all. Our floors are very scratch-resistant and hard to damage, so perfect when you have pets (and/or children).
